Art Deco Bulova Watchesīulova Company’s early Art Deco watches featured vibrant colors and embellishments like enamels and gemstones. In the history of Bulova watches, this is the rarest piece ever produced, with only 32 pieces in the world. In 2015, Bulova launched a Limited Edition Joseph Bulova Collection Multi-Color Gold Watch for $42,000 at retail. There are currently several Bulova watches listed online that will sell for very high prices. Some Bulova watches may be highly collectible, but only a few of them are worth anything. With Bulova producing so many affordable watches during the middle of the 20th century, vintage Bulova watches are usually valued in the $50 to $15,000 range, depending on how well they are maintained and what materials are used to produce them. Furthermore, Accutron watches are generally marked with their names across the top of their dials, in addition to the tuning fork logo. In the 1920s, some early models did not have the Bulova sign. The Bulova sign does not appear on every dial of every Bulova watch. Most Bulova watches have the company’s name engraved at the top of the dial. Essentially, each RGB channel in a Filter Forge color is a floating-point number. Second, RGB Math components treat RGB channels as floating-point numbers. You can use the Get Alpha and Set Alpha components to process the alpha channel in any way you want. Unlike the RGB channels, the alpha channel (opacity) is usually not processed in a channel-wise manner – most components just use the intact alpha from the first operand. To illustrate the following example, when the Add component is given two colors, R = 0.5, G = 1, B = 2 and R = 10, G = 20, B = 30, the resulting color will be R = 10.5, G = 21, B = 32. ![]() ![]() The word percent means out of a hundred, so 20. Convert Fractions to Percents Divide the top of the fraction by the bottom, multiply by 100 and add a '' sign. Just as you did to convert the fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator. ![]() Students at Level Three should know simple common fraction-percentage relationships, including 1/2 = 50%, 1/4 = 25%, 1/10 = 10%, 1/5 = 20%, and use this knowledge to work out non-unit fractions as percentages, for example 3/4 = 75%. It is essential to have a basic understanding of fractions to be able to apply learned knowledge to everyday life. Divide the fraction and then multiply by 100 to change to a percent. Example: if only 10 of the 200 apples are bad, what percent is that As a fraction, 10200 0.05. So fractions with common numerators have an order of size based on the size of the parts, for example 2/7 < 2/5 < 2/3 (< means “less than”). If the fraction is a mixed number, convert it to improper fraction first and then multiply by 100 to get a percent. For example, thirds of the same whole are smaller than halves of the same whole. To find the whole-number part of the percentage, multiply the numerator of the original fractional form by 9, and affix the original fraction and then the sign. The size of the denominator also affects the size of the parts being counted in a fraction. Curious note: The elevenths convert to percentage form in terms of 9 s. Multiply the numerators (2 and 100) and multiply the denominators (5 and 1). This means that fractions can be greater than one, for example 4/3 = 1 1/3, and that fractions have a counting order if the denominators are the same, for example 1/3, 2/3, 3/3, 4/3. Convert 25 to a percentage by multiplying the fraction by 100 first. The parts are thirds created by splitting one into three equal parts. Since 25 is larger than 2, in order to divide, we must add a decimal point and some zeroes after the 2. So, the fraction 4 8 is equivalent to 50. This means the numerator (top number) is a count and the denominator tells the size of the parts, for example in 5/3 there are five parts. It can be converted to percent by multiplying the decimal by 100. ![]() Fundamental concepts are that fractions are iterations (repeats) of a unit fraction, for example 3/5 = 1/5 + 1/5 + 1/5 and 5/3 = 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3. Children's confidence will grow as they complete the practice examples. This means students will understand the meaning of the digits in a fraction, how the fraction can be written in numerals and words, or said, and the relative order and size of fractions with common denominators (bottom numbers) or common numerators (top numbers). Suppose a class has 50 students of whom 30 are boys and 20, girls. The activities in all units of this book reflect current classroom practice. The word Percentage was coined from the Latin word Percentum which means by hundred, therefore, it is said that percentages are the fractions with 100 in the denominator. To begin with, let’s understand the basic definitions of Fractions, Ratios and Percentages. Year 6 children who require revision of fractions, decimals and percentages should complete Unit 4. Next, convert the fraction to a percentage by making the denominator 100. First, write the problem as a fraction, then simplify it. Once they have learnt these fundamental concepts, the student can work through the unity relevant to their Year level. Discover how to calculate percentages with this simple method. To my surprise, Jones had a whole new speaker - the floor standing F5 at $580/pair. ![]() While I completely bypassed this demo at Munich (I plead jet lag), I did find ELAC at RMAF this year. Worthy audio for the masses? Be still, my little proletariat heart. This move says, to me at least, that the baby Pioneers were not an accident, but part of a grander plan. At Munich this past year, Jones and (new) company released another set affordable loudspeakers, the Debut Series B5, at $229/pair. They’re not the TAD versions, of course, but they’re also less than 1/100th the price. Given their price, these speakers are all that and a bag of chips. In fact, I have an award that I bring forward whenever I find a particularly salubrious intersection between cost and performance. “What if I only spent ($) instead of ($$$$$) on parts? What then?” The upshot, of course, is irrelevant - again, not to make it all about me, but I have a full surround-sound complement of those Pioneer speakers and for their price, they’re really quite good. The fact that they don’t suck is a testament directly to his design, but I remember wondering if it was a calculated move or something of a design exercise. The fact that he slummed around and bothered to design and launch the sub-$150 Pioneers is something of a marvel. Anyway, Jones made some extraordinary speakers for TAD, speakers I’ve been repeatedly startled by, both by their cost ($$$$$) and their quality (amazeballs). I remember the announcement came shortly after I’d decided that the little Pioneer SP-BS22 LR loudspeakers won my Guttenberg Challenge. Jones recently left Pioneer/TAD to join ELAC. I’m the chair-jockey, vying for the center seat. I’ve met Andrew Jones a couple of times, glancingly. But on the off-chance you’re being dense, here’s the punchline: if all you had was $200, based on my Guttenberg explorations, what I would recommend is a pair of AKG K7XX headphones from Massdrop. Or rather/better, endorse to what end? For dedicated two-channel music thrills? Or something (marginally) better than what your iMac is capable of with it’s built-in speakers? I’m exaggerating, but you take my point. But good? To the point of actually endorsing? Not so much. There was one pair of speakers and an amp to match that didn’t necessarily make me want to throttle myself with my own intestines. But the bell that Steve rung around “affordable audio” has reverberated around in my skull - so, I spent a couple hundred bucks on cheap audio components in my own Guttenberg Challenge. ![]() I called it “The 21st Century Audiophile”, and we talked about a lot of things. It was a direct result of panel I hosted last year at the New York Audio Show, with Steve Guttenberg, John Darko and Art Dudley. If it were true, if it were possible, it would be rare. I also want to say that an entire audio system can be had for under $100 (or $250, or some other arbitrarily low-level), and further, that the sound coaxed from that system fully rivals the sound coming from systems costing many, many thousands of dollars. I want to say that speakers don’t necessarily get all that much better the more expensive they get. There is something to that, I’ll confess. It’s either a sense of outrage and righteousness at the current sorry state of pricing in high-end audio, or a certain smugness that invites a caveat: “Price certainly does seem to correlate with quality, though!” Such declamations are usually followed with one of two things, however. Of course price doesn’t entail sound quality. “Gear doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.” That’s been repeated so often and for so long, that it’s cliché at this point. And that fact alone says “things” about the industry as a whole. Or even that it hadn’t ever been done before. I think that is the main point that John and Steve were driving at, back in New York. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If this borrower can refinance to a new 20-year loan with the same principal at a 4% interest rate, the monthly payment will drop $107.95 from $1,319.91 to $1,211.96 per month. For example, a borrower holds a mortgage at a 5% interest rate with $200,000 and 20 years remaining. ![]() Refinance to a shorter termĪnother option involves refinancing, or taking out a new mortgage to pay off an old loan. In such cases, borrowers can allocate a certain amount from each paycheck for the mortgage repayment. The biweekly payments option is suitable for those that receive a paycheck every two weeks. Thus, borrowers make the equivalent of 13 full monthly payments at year's end, or one extra month of payments every year. With 52 weeks in a year, this approach results in 26 half payments. ![]() This entails paying half of the regular mortgage payment every two weeks. Biweekly PaymentsĪnother strategy for paying off the mortgage earlier involves biweekly payments. For the same $200,000, 30-year, 5% interest loan, extra monthly payments of $6 will pay off the loan four payments earlier, saving $2,796 in interest. For example, a one-time additional payment of $1,000 towards a $200,000, 30-year loan at 5% interest can pay off the loan four months earlier, saving $3,420 in interest. Borrowers can make these payments on a one-time basis or over a specified period, such as monthly or annually.Įxtra payments can possibly lower overall interest costs dramatically. Outlined below are a few strategies that can be employed to pay off the mortgage early.: Extra PaymentsĮxtra payments are additional payments in addition to the scheduled mortgage payments. Once the user inputs the required information, the Mortgage Payoff Calculator will calculate the pertinent data.Īside from selling the home to pay off the mortgage, some borrowers may want to pay off their mortgage earlier to save on interest. The Mortgage Payoff Calculator and the accompanying Amortization Table illustrate this precisely. Thus, with each successive payment, the portion allocated to interest falls while the amount of principal paid rises. However, as the outstanding principal declines, interest costs will subsequently fall. Since the outstanding balance on the total principal requires higher interest charges, a more significant part of the payment will go toward interest at first. A typical amortization schedule of a mortgage loan will contain both interest and principal.Įach payment will cover the interest first, with the remaining portion allocated to the principal. This interest charge is typically a percentage of the outstanding principal. The principal is the amount borrowed, while the interest is the lender's charge to borrow the money. Principal and Interest of a MortgageĪ typical loan repayment consists of two parts, the principal and the interest. It calculates the remaining time to pay off, the difference in payoff time, and interest savings for different payoff options. The Mortgage Payoff Calculator above helps evaluate the different mortgage payoff options, including making one-time or periodic extra payments, biweekly repayments, or paying off the mortgage in full.
